Electrical Contractor Bebbington & Wilson Ltd has two reasons to celebrate this month. The company has been awarded accreditation from safecontractor for its commitment to achieving excellence in health and safety and Director Ray Wilson has been awarded his NEBOSH for Construction certificate.
safecontractor is a leading third party accreditation scheme which recognises very high standards in health and safety management amongst UK contractors and the NEBOSH (The National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health) award means the company can now take on the role and responsibility of Principal Contractor or CDM Co-ordinator on any future contracts should the need arise.
over 30 people, Bebbington & Wilson is an electrical contractor offering a
full range of electrical contracting services from design, installation,
maintenance and testing of all electrical systems. The company has offices in Prestatyn and Guernsey in the Channel
Director Ray Wilson said: “The company’s application for safecontractor accreditation was driven by the need for a uniform standard across the business and a desire to maintain a high standard of health and safety. Bebbington & Wilson Ltd is completely dedicated to providing health and safety of the highest possible standards. We are so pleased to have achieved safecontractor accreditation and know it has only been possible, because we can demonstrate our ongoing commitment to health and safety, through our robust systems, procedures and proven track record. We constantly strive to provide first-class service with a focused approach on customer satisfaction which has led to a high percentage of contract wins and being awarded safecontractor accreditation proves our high standards within the industry.
safecontractor accreditation combined with my NEBOSH certification will enhance the company’s ability to attract new contracts and its commitment to safety.”
safecontractor is applicable to most sectors although it is particularly relevant to food manufacture, property, facilities management, retail and leisure sectors, all of which are big users of contracted services and areas in which Bebbington Wilson specialise in.
John Kinge, technical director of safecontractor said, "Major organisations simply cannot afford to run the risk of employing contractors who are not able to prove that they have sound health and safety policies in place."
"More companies need to understand the importance of adopting good risk management in the way that Bebbington & Wilson has done. The firm’s high standard has set an example which hopefully will be followed by other companies within the sector.
safecontractor plays a vital role in supporting our clients in meeting their compliance needs, whilst working with their contractors as they progress through the accreditation process.”
the safecontractor scheme, businesses undergo a vetting process which examines
health and safety procedures and their track record for safe practice. Those
companies meeting the high standard are included on a database, which is
accessible to registered users only via a website.
Over one hundred and seventy major nation-wide businesses, from several key sectors, have signed up to use the scheme when selecting contractors for services such as building, cleaning, maintenance, refurbishment or electrical and mechanical work.
